The Flavor of Kerala

Kerala is known as the "Land of Spices" for a reason. Our cuisine is a celebration of the spices that grow right here in our backyard in Kumily.

The Spice Bowl

Our food begins with the "King and Queen" of spices—Black Pepper and Cardamom. We also use Cloves, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, and Star Anise. Unlike other Indian cuisines that might be heavy on cream, Kerala food is light, aromatic, and defined by the use of Coconut.

Signature Dishes

The Sadya: A vegetarian banquet served on a fresh plantain leaf, featuring over 24 dishes ranging from the tangy Sambar to the rich, creamy Payasam.

Seafood & Meats: Our Fish Curry is cooked in an earthen pot with 'Kudampuli' for a distinct tangy taste. The Kerala Chicken Roast and Beef Fry are legendary.

The Culture of Welcoming

In Kerala, we believe in the Sanskrit phrase Atithi Devo Bhava, which means "The Guest is God."

The Warm Welcome

A traditional welcome often involves the lighting of the Nilavilakku (brass lamp). Guests are greeted with a warm smile and often a glass of Sambharam or tender coconut water.

Dining Etiquette

Serving food is an act of love. When serving a Sadya, the tapering end of the banana leaf points to the left of the guest. Use of hands is encouraged—it enhances the taste and digestion.
